Wokha, December 20 (DIPR): Mock drill was conducted at Wokha on December 20. The mock drill was organised by Wokha District Disaster Management Authority in collaboration with all the nodal agencies in the district headquarter to spread awareness to the citizens as to how preventive measures can be adopted in times of eventualities.
The drill was conducted in three locations, NST colony secondary fire incident, Police point high-rise building collapse caused by earthquake and PWD colony under construction building collapse. In all the three sites the rescue and operation works were conducted and practical demonstrations were shown to the public as to how injured people, victims draped in the building and casualties are evacuated during any eventualities. The mock drill ended with debriefing of all the participants involved where feedback and suggestion were raised by the members.
During the meeting the Deputy Commissioner thanked all members and volunteer from Lotha Youth Hoho for their co-operation and support for making the mock drill a success and also the general public for turning out in large number to witness the mock drill. Stating another feather is being added to our work the DC said that with collective effort and participation we are ready to face any kind of eventualities and called for cooperation so that prompt action can be initiated to save the lives of victims during disaster. He also mentioned about the shortage of equipments in the district to be utilized during such emergencies.
