Since the outbreak of COVID-19, the Kiphire district medical department along with District Administration and Police have been at war footing to contain and prevent the spread of the disease. 


Apart from routine District Task Force meeting where status report on COVID-19 is updated regularly by Chief Medical Officer, Kiphire under the chairmanship of the Deputy Commissioner, Kiphire, Sarita Yadav, IAS, mock drill on COVID-19 was conducted at newly converted COVID-19 Hospital at Kiphire town to prepare ahead of any eventualities.


According to the medical official, scenario for mock drill included triaging of patients, Swab Sample collection, handling of dead body in case of patient mortality and Bio-Medical waste management. 


Kiphire Medical Superintendent, Dr Bendangsenla Ao informed that mock drill was successful held as Kiphire district hospital is fortune to have one of the most dedicated nurses, staffs and doctors in the district. She informed that Kiphire currently has one portable ventilator with two bedded level 1 ICU and 9 beds at isolation ward. 


According to Dr Deny, Epistemology Nodal officer Kiphire for COVID-19 stated that so far 925 persons have been screened, 289 completed home quarantine and currently 15 under home quarantine. 


It may be stated that district administration Kiphire along with medical department and police have been from the beginning of COVID-19 outbreak working in tandem with civil society organization in enforcing policy and guidelines issued by the government with full support and cooperation from the public of Kiphire district.
