Kohima, December 12 (MExN): A one-day career guidance seminar was organised by Guidance and Counseling Cell, Modern College, Kohima on December 11. 

The seminar was moderated by Kaikho Ezhüni, Assistant Professor, Department of English. The panel of speakers for the seminar, Pelee Hekha, Managing Director, Modern College Dr Vitsou Yano, Principal, Modern College, Kikatemba Ozukum, Assistant Professor, Modern College. 

Pelee Hekha, MD, Modern College briefed the students on the NEET (National Eligibility Entrance Test). He gave a presentation on the NEET toppers of the North-Eastern states and where Nagaland stands in the list. He also challenged the students to work harder and to focus on achieving at the National level and not just the state level. 

Kikatemba, Assistant Professor, Depaertment of Science, sensitized the students on the JEE (Joint Entrance Examination) the various stages of the exam (Mains and advanced). He briefed the students on the new pattern of JEE which will be implemented from 2021, where a separate exam on B. planning will be conducted which was previously clubbed with the B.Arch. examination. He encouraged the students to work hard right from the beginning so that they will achieve good results. 

Dr Vitsou Yano, Principal, Modern College took up the arts and commerce stream, she spoke on the importance of decision making, using talent to determines one’s goal, grabbing the opportunity ahead of oneself, opting different courses as per interests or one’s own talent. She spoke on the different courses one can take up to pursue one’s dream with dedication, passion and conviction. She also emphasized the importance on the value of money. 

Vote of thanks was delivered by Aben Longkumer assistant professor, Department of English. Altogether 60 students, along with the teachers attended the seminar.
