DIMAPUR, SEPTEMBER 3 (MExN): With the view of the predetermined objective of enhancing critical thinking, awareness and public speaking skills of students, the Department of English and Debate Club of Modern College conducted three rounds of Debate competition where 39 students participated.
The final round of the debate competition held on September 2 was held on the topic ‘Nagas political aspirations for seperate homeland is a myth.’
Losa from BA 5th semester English Department was the chairperson. The moderator of the debate competition was Bideno A Humstoe, Assistant Professor of English Department. The judges were Seyekhrienuo, Anthony and Keleseno. Time keepers were Atoto K Chishi and Rachael Thiumai. Photographers were Tsurenthong L, Dev Kumar and Imkongakum Imchen.
The opposition team emerged as the winner with Ricky Das of BA 3rd semester bagging the Best Debater title. Cash prizes were sponsored by P Pukha Lam, EAC, Aitepyong and Longjakrep, Sepoy, Indian Army. A song was presented by Akash Chetri and friends of BA 1st semester, and dance was presented by Vito Sema. The event concluded with Ngipao delivering the vote of thanks.
