Kohima, May 24 (MExN): Modern College, Kohima hosted the official launch of the debut book ‘Meraki’, by Manong Wangshu, Assistant Professor, Department of English at the college’s conference hall on May 23. The book is published by Woods Publishers.
A brief book review was presented by Watimongla Imchen, HoD of English, highlighting the literary and thematic focus of the work. She mentioned that with every line, the poet breathes life into emotions left unspoken, offering readers a glimpse into a heart that beats in rhythm with its art. What makes this collection truly special, Imchen relates, is the sincerity in every line. “Wangshu’s words possess a quiet strength that lingers long after the final page,” she remarked.
The author, Wangshu, shared insights into his writing journey and the inspiration behind his new book ‘Meraki’. The book is woven from his experiences, solitude, dreams and perception of society. He described poetry as “a mirror of the soul,” and shared that the collection explores themes of love, hope, faith, nature, and the shifting landscapes of the human experience. “This book is a part of my quiet world, once private—today, I open it to the readers,” he concluded.
The book was officially released by Dr Vitsou Yano, Principal of Modern College. She emphasised that publishing a book gives credibility to the author, recognising their dedication and effort. A book not only reflects the writer’s voice but also brings light and insight to the readers. She encouraged everyone to read more, affirming that reading helps us grow and expand knowledge.
Rüülhouü Khawakhrie of B.A. 2nd Semester, recited a poem from the newly released book.
