KOHIMA, SEPTEMBER 26 (MExN): Modern College, in collaboration with the IGNOU Regional Centre here, organised a one-day programme on “IGNOU Orientation & Mock Parliament” at the college campus on September 26.
The event aimed to create awareness about educational opportunities under IGNOU and provide students with an experiential understanding of parliamentary procedures, a college official said.
The programme featured addresses by Dr Premila Swamy D., Regional Director, IGNOU RC-20, Kohima, who spoke on “Opportunities and Prospects under IGNOU,” and Dr Mayonmi Shimray, Assistant Regional Director, who highlighted the “Dual Programme Provision under NEP 2020.”
A major highlight was a Mock Parliament session conducted by students of the Department of Political Science. The session saw debates on contemporary issues including ‘One Nation, One Election’, the ‘National Sports Governance Bill’, the ‘Women’s Reservation Bill’, and the ‘Manipur Riot’.
Akash Chettri from the Treasury Bench and Lamgousang from the Opposition Bench were adjudged the Best Speakers of the session.
The event concluded with a vote of thanks by Vikedounuo Kire, Assistant Professor, Department of Political Science.
