PIPHEMA, OCTOBER 27 (MExN): Modern College, Piphema, organised its much-anticipated 3rd Edition Autumn Fiesta on October 25, showcasing a mix of cultural, sports, and digital events for students and visitors.
The event was sponsored by Green Hills Restaurant, Wulo Akami Artworks, Punjab & Sind Bank, ICICI Bank, Wonderhill Restaurant, 78 BN CRPF (Sechu Zubza), IGAR (N)/22 AR, and Northeast Hub (Tour & Travels).
The inaugural programme was led by Visino Chusi, with an invocation by Vedulü Lohe. Dr Vitsou Yano, Principal of Modern College, welcomed the gathering. A special performance by Kimdehoi Singson entertained the audience, followed by a keynote exhortation by Mele Pucho, Proprietor of Symphony Academy of Music. He highlighted unemployment as a major challenge for today’s youth, urging students to focus on skill development, self-employment, and creativity, stressing that education alone does not guarantee success.
Cilule Ndang, Convenor of Autumn Fiesta, proposed the vote of thanks, and the event was officially inaugurated with a ribbon-cutting ceremony.
The main attraction, Modern Rhapsody, featured 27 performers from various colleges and higher secondary schools across India. Judges included Kekhriengunuo Seyie, Lachoi B Vomshak, and Wate Kapfo. The competition concluded with Achatnis (Patkai Christian College) winning first prize, Kuluvelu Swuro (Patkai Christian College) second, and Keneisayo Khro (Kalka Dental College and Hospital, Delhi) third.
A Deadlift competition, organised by the Modern College Alumni Association and Power Gym Kohima, saw 18 participants, with Athuo Sabrina, Elow Kreni, and Mathibo Lawrence winning first, second, and third prizes respectively.
The Fiesta also featured a College Fete with food stalls offering local delicacies, a Cosplay Campus under the Bohemian theme, and a digital competition including a BGMI (Battlegrounds Mobile India) tournament with 60 teams. Team X7 Mizoram won first prize, Team T4P Esport second, Team HOPE Esport third, and 2FaceFromX7 was declared MVP.
The event concluded with a DJ evening. Additional prizes included Best Custom won by Mr Lokito Achumi and Best Stall Setup by AV Floristry.
