Modern College, Piphema welcomes new students at Freshers’ Day 2025

Modern College, Piphema, hosted its annual Freshers’ Day at the college’s Indoor Stadium to formally welcome the new batch of students on July 25.

PIPHEMA, JULY 25 (MExN): Modern College, Piphema, hosted its annual Freshers’ Day on Friday at the college’s Indoor Stadium to formally welcome the new batch of students.

The programme began with an invocation by Seyievino Meyase, followed by the College Anthem. Lhüvoto Vewsü, General Secretary of the Modern College Students’ Union (MCSU), delivered the welcome address. A welcome song by BA 3rd Semester students was also presented. Rokovibei Neikha spoke on behalf of the freshers, while Rachel Thiumai gave a special presentation.

Dr Keneilhoulie Medom, Anesthesiologist and Managing Director of KOHIMAS Hospital, graced the occasion as the special guest. In his exhortation, Dr Medom shared personal experiences from his early life, highlighting the values of honesty, hard work and consistency. Urging students to pursue excellence, he advised them to set clear goals and avoid procrastination. “If not now, then when?” he remarked, adding that action creates momentum and opportunities are often lost in delay.

To encourage students emotionally and spiritually, especially during moments of discouragement, Dr Medom cited Bible verses including Proverbs 3:5,7 and Ecclesiastes 2:1, urging them to draw strength from faith and stay grounded in purpose.

The highlight of the event was the Mr. and Ms. Fresher 2025 contest, conducted in three rounds. The first round featured self-introductions in traditional attire, followed by a casual round where participants showcased their talents in singing, dancing, and music.

In the final round, results were declared with Jianloungam Issaac Pamei and Lhingmoichong Singson crowned as Mr and Miss Fresher 2025. Rheibeituo Seyie and Lhingmoichong Singson were named Mr and Miss Multimedia, while Mhonjan Kithan and Diezengu-ü Vimerha received the Mr and Miss Personality titles.

The programme concluded with a benediction by Neizeno Kuotsu, Evangelism Secretary, EU, Modern College. Comperes for the event were Mahima Rai and Mr. Khriekhotuo Khawakhrie. Light refreshments were served to all attendees.

An informal session followed in the afternoon, featuring a performance by artist and singer Keneiseno Sorhie, who entertained the audience with her musical presentation.
