Modi arrives in Manipur, Assam today

CorCom calls for a 'total shutdown'

Dimapur, January 3 (MExN): The Prime Minister, Narendra Modi will visit Manipur and Assam on January 4 and inaugurated several projects as well as address a Public Rally.


In Manipur, Prime Minister will inaugurate and lay foundation stones for several projects and schemes, informed a Prime Minister's Office release via PIB Release.


He will unveil the plaque to mark the inauguration of various projects including Integrated Check Post (ICP) at Moreh; the Dolaithabi Barrage project; FCI food storage godown at Sawombung; Eco Tourism Complex at ThangalSurung; and various water supply schemes, it said.


Modi will also dedicate the 400kV double circuit Silchar-Imphal line.


According to the PIB release, the Prime Minister will also the lay the foundation stone of projects like Infrastructure Development of Dhanamanjuri University, Imphal and sports facilities etc.


Later, he will address the gathering at Hapta Kangjeibung in Imphal East District.


In Assam, the Prime Minister will address a Public Rally at Ramnagar in Silchar.


Meanwhile, the Co-ordination Committee (CorCom), an umbrella body of various valley based underground outfits, has announced for to oppose the Prime Minister’s visti to Manipur on January 4.


The CorCom said on January 2 that it would call for a “total shutdown” from 1 pm till the Prime Minister leaves the State on January 4, the Newmai News Agency reported.


The Biren Singh government in Manipur is enhancing security measures to prevent any untoward incident the visit.


Police are seen frisking and conducting operations in various places since the past few days.
