In a glittering ceremony, the 7th Miss. Phom and 1st Mr. Phom 2011 were conducted successfully on October 6 at Longleng with the theme ‘Ethical with an anesthetic virtue’. The event was organized by the Yingla Welfare Society Hq Longleng.
Deputy Commissioner Longleng, K. Libanthung Lotha, who was the chief guest, encouraged the participants to b men and women of substance. Elaborating on the theme, he added that God given beauty in a man and woman needs to be used as an instrument and channel of peace. He also donated a sum of rupees 15,000 towards the society.
Moiben Kupling was crowned Miss. Phom 2011 and C. Mongau Lakshing and A. Phengmei declared the first and second runners up respectively. The winners walked away with cash money of rupees 15.000, rupees 10.000 and rupees 7000 respectively along with gift hampers from Oriflame and Avon. Under the sub-title category, Moiben Kupling bagged ‘Miss. Congeniality’ and ‘Best ethnic wear’ respectively, while Ongli won the ‘Miss. Perfect 10’, Lucy ‘Miss. Beautiful Hair’ and C. Mongau Lakshing ‘Miss. Photogenic’.
Meanwhile, in the first ever Mr. Phom contest, S. Bongau was declared the winner, while Bujoy N. Phom and Y Sanglem was declared the 1st and 2nd runners up. The winners walked away with cash money rupees 15.000, rupees 10.000 and rupees 7000 respectively and gift hampers from Oriflame and Avon. S. Bongau was adjudged ‘Mr. Physique’, and Y Sanglem and N. Hamshet won the ‘Best ethnic wear’ and ‘Mr. Personality’ respectively. All the winners as well as the participants were presented with gift hampers from Oriflame and Avon.
Opangtodang Jamir (Mr. Earth 2011-12) conveyed a message to protect and support every living creature on earth as well the environment. Kija, Anyak and Metjei Y Buchem enthralled the audience through their beautiful presentation.
Shayan Leinak showcased the designer wear and Nyei-ei Leinak was the choreographer of the event. The organizers have in a release congratulated Mr & Mrs. Leisha, Mr & Mrs. Baushi, Mr & Mrs Nungba, Veleden, Longleng PSC, DC Office & RCS Longleng, and also thanked all the well wishers and congratulated the winners.
