Mokokchung authorities act against pharmacies with cancelled licenses

Mokokchung, June 19 (MExN): In the ongoing effort to streamline and regulate pharmacies as empowered by Drugs and Cosmetic Act 1940, a joint team of District Administration Mokokchung, Police department Mokokchung and Chief Medical Office Mokokchung, conducted an enforcement drive to check the status of the recently cancelled drug license in Mokokchung town on June 16. 

An update received here stated that during the exercise it was found that M/s Lucky Drugs Sangtemla ward, Faith Medicine Sangtemla ward, Longkumer Pharmacy Sangtemla ward, JR Aren Pharmacy Dilong ward and Life Pharmacy Dilong ward were found to be operating in violation of Section 18(c) of Drugs and Cosmetic Act 1940. 

The team confiscated all the medicines from the above-mentioned illegal outlets as per provisions of Section 31 (ii) of Drugs and Cosmetic Act 1940. 

It may be mentioned that checking will be conducted at regular intervals and violators will be dealt with as per provisions of Drugs and Cosmetic Act 1940.

Additionally, installations of CCTV by all the running medical outlets were also checked by the NCORD- MKG inspection team. The medical outlets were also notified to display prominent labels bearing ‘To Be Sold Only On Prescription’ for the Schedule H and H1 drugs.
