Mokokchung DPDB clears agenda for July-August

Mokokchung, August 22 (MExN): The Mokokchung District Planning & Development Board (DPDB) cleared its agenda for the month of July and August during its meeting on August 21 under the chairmanship of Minister PWD (Housing & Mechanical) and Board Chairperson Tongpang Ozukum.

Speaker of the Nagaland Legislative Assembly Sharingain Longkumer was also present during the meeting, a report from the state DIPR informed. The report also stated that LADP 2021-22 was finalized during the meeting.

Among the matters that were discussed during the meeting, Chief Medical Officer (CMO) Mokokchung, Dr Chubala Aier gave a report on the COVID-19 status in the district and highlighted the management and activities of the department in combating the pandemic in the district. She also gave the status report on vaccination drive in the district and said that the department is doing its best to improve the overall activity related to COVID-19.

On the status report, the chairperson encouraged the department to focus more in testing and vaccination and called upon the district administration to approach village councils in rural areas to encourage vaccination.

The house discussed setting up a Dairy Chilling Plant at Mokokchung and after thorough deliberation, decided to take the matter up with the concerned department. A report on the Mokokchung Municipal Council (MMC) dumping site was also brought up for discussion and the house decided to approach the land owner and negotiate outright purchase of the land, the DIPR report stated.

In the education sector, the board discussed the introduction of commerce stream at Fazl Ali College, Mokokchung and decided put up the matter for approval of higher ups. The proposal for black topping the approach road of Clerk Theological College (CTC), Mokokchung in commemoration of the college’s 50 years Jubilee was taken up by the board.

Summing up the meeting, Ozukum is said to have appealed to all the members to work with sincerity and contribute their best while serving at Mokokchung district. He also reminded the members to regularly attend DPDB meetings, the report stated.
