Mokokchung DPDB meet approves key proposals, reviews development agenda

MOKOKCHUNG, NOVEMBER 15 (MExN): The monthly District Planning & Development Board (DPDB) meeting for Mokokchung was convened at the DC’s conference hall under the chairmanship of MLA Nuklutoshi Longkumer on November 15. 

The meeting began with a minute of silent prayer to pay tribute to late Advisor Imkong L Imchen.

Deputy Commissioner and Vice Chairman DPDB, Ajit Kumar Verma, IAS, acknowledged the contributions of the late leader to the district and the state, stating his work over a long public service career would be remembered, stated a DIPR report. 

A key agenda point was a review of preparations for the upcoming 25th edition of the Dr T Ao trophy, which Mokokchung District is scheduled to host next year.

On the NIKSHAY MITRA initiative, the DC encouraged members to adopt TB patients to support their treatment for a minimum of six months. He also urged all departments to work collectively for the holistic development of government schemes and to identify and record cultivated areas, water conservation zones, and irrigated areas.

The board approved several proposals, including the registration of the Riongsanger Cultural Society Mokokchung and the upgradation of Chuchuyimlang Block into a Sub-Divisional status under the Agriculture Department. A proposal for constructing a godown at Chuchuyimpang Town for food grain storage and distribution was forwarded to the concerned department for necessary action.
In a move to encourage efficiency, the board decided to institute awards for the best performing or innovative officials.

The meeting coincided with the celebration of Janjatiya Gaurav Diwas, marking the 150th birth anniversary of Bhagwan Birsa Munda. A PowerPoint presentation on the occasion was delivered by Assistant Commissioner Ajay Moktan, IAS, detailing the contributions of tribal communities to India's history and freedom struggle. The objectives of the day and key activities under campaigns like DAJGUA and ADI KARMAYOGI ABHIYAN were highlighted.

The District Planning Officer, N Chuba Phom, informed the board that the Advent Christmas 2025 programme will be held at Metsuben Resort, Chuchuyimpang, on December 5.

The District Agriculture department also presented a PowerPoint on its departmental activities. The meeting concluded with a vote of thanks from the Deputy Commissioner.

Later in the day, MLA & Chairman DPDB Mokokchung, along with the DC, Senior Superintendent of Police, Additional Deputy Commissioner, and other officials, inspected the ongoing construction site of Dr Imkongliba Memorial Hospital to review the progress of the work.
