Mokokchung DPDB meeting highlights key development initiatives

MOKOKCHUNG, September 4 (MExN): The Mokokchung District Planning & Development Board (DPDB) held its monthly meeting for August and September on September 4 at the DC's Conference Hall under the chairmanship of Speaker of the Nagaland Legislative Assembly and DPDB Mokokchung Chairman, Sharingain Longkumer.

During the meeting, Longkumer announced the board's new initiatives, which include procuring an ambulance with a life support system, installing a five-metric ton cold storage unit at the Mokokchung Municipal Council complex, and setting up a banana stem fibre bag production machine to promote environmentally friendly alternatives to plastic.

While reviewing the minutes of the previous meeting, the board addressed delays in the ongoing upgradation of the Imkongliba Memorial District Hospital (IMDH). It was decided that an urgent meeting with the concerned department and the contractor would be convened to investigate the reasons for the project's delay. The District Education Officer (DEO) of Mokokchung also reported on the status of capital assets in the education sector, revealing that the construction of an auditorium, library, and laboratory at Mayangnokcha Government Higher Secondary School (MGHSS), initiated in 2014, remains incomplete. The Chairman requested the DEO to submit a detailed report within two weeks for further action.

In the meeting, 10 departments provided status updates on their capital assets, with the remaining departments instructed to present their reports in the next DPDB meeting. The board also approved and forwarded the registration of three societies: Shalom Education and Charitable Trust, Tuli, Melongtet Initiative, Kobulong, and Naga Hills Farmers Federation Society, Mokokchung.

Additionally, a proposal from the principal of ICIT, Mokokchung, to change the institute's nomenclature to Government Polytechnic, Mokokchung, was approved and forwarded for further consideration.
