The Mokokchung Forest Division conducted a ceremonial plantation at 75 Nagar Van and 75 additional plantation sites as part of the Azaadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav during the HariyaliSaptah celebration by the Ministry of Environment, Forest & Climate Change, New Delhi, on July 8, 2022.
Dr. Sentitula, IFS, DFO, gave a brief exhortation at the Marep Forest Park, which was also a part of the celebration of the chosen sites representing the state of Nagaland, explaining that the Van Mahotsav, a forest festival, is the nation's annual planting season and that the initiative of ceremonial planting in 75 Nagar van and 75 other plantation sites nationwide is the journey towards "AZADI KA AMRIT MAHOTSAV," which coincides with ‘HARIYALI SAPTAH
She went on to say that mass planting had been done and was currently being undertaken in the district with the full participation from every sector of society.
With a focus on "Living Sustainably in Harmony with Nature," the district has witnessed and understood the reality of global change and its implications for humans and all other living thingsshe said while stating that, as a result, community members in the district participated in tree-planting initiatives and worked together with the international community to restore and protect our mother earth.
