Mokokchung Friday League for 35+ unprofessional players kicked off at Assam Rifle Ground, Mokokchung on May 6. This league will perhaps be a first of its kind in Mokokchung District.

Noksangmeren, Retired Head Coach, Nagaland State Football, attended the inaugural program as a chief match patron. He advised the players to respect one another and follow the rules and regulations of football in his speech. 

“Sports has the power to change the world, power to inspire and power to unite people,” He said while further stressing that there is no religion, caste, tribe or race in sports. It is a potential force to unite people and advocate development. 

Speaking at the programme, N Jamonger Ao, Assistant Director, Food & Civil Supplies, Mokokchung, asserted on the humble beginning of the league stating that the league was a way to help and contribute to the society. 

He went on to say that the league was not owned by any one individuals or groups, but rather by all of the clubs and players in the league collectively. “Unity, friendship and health is the objective of the league,” He added. 

Pastor Noksang speaking on the theme '35 & Kicking' said, “Even if the age is old but there is still zeal.” He further mentioned that there are no winners or losers in the league as even the losing team would benefit in terms of health and fitness. 

The first season of the league is currently participated by 6 teams namely: New Ecclesia, Aturar FC, Revenant FC, Royal Enfield Mokokchung, Senso Sporting Club and Terokroker.
