The Mokokchung District Gaon Bura’s hall was inaugurated by Tongpang Ozükum, Advisor, Water Resources as the inaugural guest at an event held at Sangtemla ward, Mokokchung on February 20.
Advisor Tongpang Ozukum in his speech praised and acknowledged the GB for their hard-work in completing the hall. He emphasised on the Naga Village and Area Council Act 1978 and drew lights on the functions of the GBs. While focusing on the genesis of the establishment of the GB's institution, he reminded that they are bridges between the government and the grassroots.
He added that while performing their duty, they are expected to discharge good behaviour, good character and honesty in their dealings. He also mentioned that ‘the uniform they wear is a respectable identity’ and that they are to respect what they wear. He encouraged the GBs to support younger administrative officers too, with their customary wisdom and knowledge as and when situation needs them to.
The Construction Committee gave a report on the construction of the new GB's Hall. Short speeches were delivered by the Kichu Clan, Mokokchung Village and Thsüvisie Phoji, NCS, Deputy Commissioner, Mokokchung. Along Jamir GB, President, Mokokchung District GB Association acknowledged all groups, individuals, families and association who have contributed in cash and kind in successful completion of the construction of the Hall.
