The Inter-School Quartet Competition, organized by the All Nagaland Private Schools Association (ANPSA), Mokokchung Unit, in commemoration of the Nagaland Board of School Education’s (NBSE) Golden Jubilee, took place on Friday, September 13, at the Mayangnokcha Government Higher Secondary School (MGHSS) Auditorium.

Rev. Dr. Takatemjen, Founder-President of NEALEAST, Mokokchung, graced the event as the Special Guest.

Sixteen schools from across the district participated in the highly competitive event. Mayangnokcha Government Higher Secondary School secured first place, followed by Senayangba Government Higher Secondary School in second, and Mission School, Changki, in third. The first-place winners will represent the district at the State Level Quartet Competition in Kohima on September 27, 2024.

In his speech, Rev. Dr. Takatemjen highlighted the significance of the Golden Jubilee of NBSE and celebrated the role of music in education. He emphasized the historical role of missionaries in establishing schools in Nagaland, noting how music was once a core part of the curriculum, with students proficient in staff notation. He expressed concern over the decline in music literacy among today’s youth and stressed the need to revive it, as music offers multiple benefits for learning. He encouraged the participants and students to continue pursuing music education and cultivate a love for singing.

Other highlights of the program included greetings from Lanutoshi, President of the Ao Kaketshir Mungdang (AKM), and an exhortation by Sentinenla, District Education Officer, Mokokchung, who motivated and encouraged the students to excel in their endeavors.
