Stone Quarrying: Finished, intermediate as well as raw stones are seen in a stone quarry located above National Highway 2 (Amguri-Mokokchung-Wokha-Kohima) in Mokokchung district. According to Nagaland Economic Survey 2015-16, the primary sector including Agriculture Crops, Livestock, Forestry & Logging and Mining & Quarrying contributed 29.74% to the Gross State Domestic Product (GSDP) though the share of Mining and Quarrying remained insignificant at 0.32% and Agriculture cropping contributed the highest at 20.44%. However, informally, particularly in rural areas, stone quarrying acts as important source of livelihood and significant contributors to infrastructure building and household needs. (Morung Photo)
