
Mokokchung, July 13 (MExN): District health Society, Mokokchung observed the World Population Day and launching of Population Stabilization Fortnight from July 11 to 24 under the theme ‘Take responsibility, make plans’ was held at IDSP Conference hall, IMDH Mokokchung on July 11.
During the launching programme, Sushil Kumar Patel IAS, Deputy Commissioner, Mokokchung said World Population Day is a great event being celebrated all through the World annually on July 11. It is celebrated to increase the awareness of the people towards the worldwide population issues.
Dr. Kibangkumba, Dy CMO Mokokchung gave a brief introduction on World Population Day and Intensified Diarrhoea Control Fortnight (IDCF). He said that World population day is observed all over the world on July 11 with an aim to exploit the over population in the world. IDCF is also to be observed from July 11 to 23 with the rest of the Country. In this fortnight the main goal is to attain a free childhood diarrhoea and child deaths due to diarrhoea.
During this fortnight, ASHA are the main components. They will be distributing ORS to the families with children less than five years of age and also conduct demonstration and preparation of ORS, importance of hand washing etc. In this regard, the Medical Department in convergence with Education Department, Social Welfare Department, PHE Department , NGOs to take active part.
The programme was chaired by Dr. Temsuyanger DPO (RCH & UIP) and Vote of thanks and conclusion was delivered by Dr Medem Medical Superintendent, IMDH Mokokchung.
