Mokokchung: Orgs seek justice for victim of child sexual assault

Mokokchung, August 12 (MExN): The Ao Students' Conference (AKM) has issued a condemnation of the sexual assault committed against a three-and-a-half-year-old girl in Saring village, Mokokchung district.

The assault has been described by the AKM as a “barbaric and despicable” act that goes against the community's core values.

In a press release, the AKM emphasised the severity of the crime, stating, “This heinous crime is an affront to the values and morals of our community, and it demands the severest condemnation.” The organization has called for the harshest possible legal consequences for the accused, asserting that “such a grievous violation of the dignity and innocence of a child cannot be met with anything less than the full weight of justice.”

The AKM has also issued a stern warning against any attempts to bail out the accused. “Any actions to protect the perpetrator will be viewed as a direct affront to our community and will be regarded as supporting the crime,” the press release noted. The organization vowed that those who attempt to shield the accused “will face the consequences of their betrayal.”

Additionally, the AKM addressed concerns about non-Nagas adopting Naga names to commit crimes, which they believed undermines the reputation of the Naga people. “This must serve as a lesson to all communities that such deceitful behavior will not be tolerated,” the release stated.

“In this time of immense sorrow and anger, we stand with the victim and her family and are dedicated to ensuring that justice is served,” the AKM concluded.
