The Mokokchung Photography Club (MPC) organized a get-together and induction program at Hotel Magnus, Alongmen Ward, Mokokchung, on Friday, September 6. The event featured Limalenden Longkumer, Editor of Mokokchung Times and a founding member of MPC, as the main speaker. His address, titled “Mokokchung Photography Club, What Next?”, focused on the future direction of the club and its role in the community.
Longkumer emphasized the importance of MPC in fostering a sense of community by bringing together photography enthusiasts in Mokokchung. He highlighted how the club serves as a platform for emerging photographers to develop their skills, gain recognition, and preserve local heritage through their art. Longkumer also noted the potential for photography to boost local tourism by showcasing the town’s scenic beauty and culture.
To further enhance the club’s impact, Longkumer suggested various initiatives, including regular workshops, photo walks, contests, and exhibitions. These activities would not only develop members’ photography skills but also enrich the cultural life of the town. He also discussed professional opportunities in photography, encouraging members to explore fields such as wedding photography, photojournalism, and commercial photography.
The new leadership of MPC was also announced, with Takumeren appointed as the convener and Moamongba as the secretary. The Mokokchung Photography Club, founded in 2011 with the motto “Painting with Light,” continues to promote photography as an art form and profession while engaging the local community in creative pursuits.
