Arkong Ward Sanitation Committee opened a RRR centre (Reduce, Reuse, Recycle) in Yongpang market, Arkong ward, Mokokchung on Wednesday. It is a participating centre of the campaign inaugurated by Mokokchung Municipal Council (MMC), a programme of the Swachh Bharat Mission, Urban 2.0 and a scheme of Meri Life, Mera Swachh Shehar campaign.
The ward’s RRR centre is initiated by Arkong Ward Sanitation Committee with joint cooperation by all the ward council, Youth Association (Rongpang Reju), Arkong Watsü unit and Arkong Youth Fellowship.
Representative from MMC mentioned that the concept is to collect used/unused spare clothes, shoes, books, goods, electronic appliances and other needful items. The same shall be displayed and those in need may take home for free.
The RRR centre will be monitored and looked after in turns by all the groups and organisations of the ward, in their respective turns until June 5. The united efforts of all the concerned groups and the residents of the colony were remarkable, stated the ward chairman.
The items contributed at the centre were old E-waste, old flowers in pot, old bags, old clothes, old shoes, old books, old electronic appliances etc.
The RRR Centre will be run in MMC Complex, Aongza ward, Arkong ward, Salangtem ward and Imkong place. A competition amongst the different centres, on certain areas will be organised by Mokokchung Municipal Council.
