Mokokchung scores highest in dist wise TB score for Nagaland

Kohima, August 10 (MExN): Mokokchung district stood first in the district wise TB Score for Nagaland the January-June 2022 quarter, followed by Longleng and Wokha districts in the second position and Mon district in third. This was revealed during the half-yearly review meeting and deliberations on the New Strategic Plan of the National TB Elimination Programme (NTEP).

According to a press release from the State Programme Officer (NTEP), the meeting was held on August 9 and 10 at the IDSP Conference Hall, Directorate of Health & Family Welfare, Kohima with Medical Consultants WHO (NTEP) and Districts TB Officers.

Opening remarks was given by Dr Tiasunup Pongener, State TB Officer (NTEP), who emphasised on the District Strategic plans. He urged the District TB officers to be more sincere and dedicated in their works. 

Dr Collins Z Sono, Medical Consultant WHO (NTEP), highlighted about the Programme’s performance based on TB Notification vs. Achievement, TB comorbidity, Nikshay Poshan Yojana, Universal Drug Sensitivity Testing, screening for HIV among TB patients, Treatment Success Rate, Contact Tracing & Chemoprophylaxis, TPT, Community support for TB Patients etc, the release stated.

Dr Thorhusie Katiry, Mission Director (NHM) who also attended the meeting reminded the staff to keep the vision of eliminating TB, and urged them to worker harder to achieve the goal. Districts should work according to District Action plan, he added.

Dr Deka Dhrubajyoti, WHO Consultant, RTL NE, shared on District Strategic Plan, and said that the objectives are to develop thematic areas-wise strategies and activities with broad operational targets for each State/UT and to align or refine the state Strategic Plan for all states/UTs. He also stressed on thematic areas like presumptive TB Examination rate, TB notification from public and private sector, TPT, differentiate TB Care, treatment adherence and successfully completion of treatment of DSTB & DR-TB, Drug resistant TB, Community Engagement, ACSM & TB Mukt Bharat, along with multi -sectoral engagement and intervention to reduce out-of-pocket-expenditure.

The meeting was well attended by the district staff of NTEP along with the State TB Cell staff, according to the release.
