Mokokchung, April 9 (MExN): Come April 15 afternoon, the 44th Assam Rifles Ground at Mokokchung will witness a football match of a different kind between some of the well-known faces and the 44th Assam Rifles stationed at Mokokchung. The match has been organized by the 44th Assam Rifles as part of its civic action programme and also to familiarize with the local people on the theme, ‘Sentinels with the sons of the soil’. The local team, dubbed as Mokokchung Young Hearts United, comprises of nearly thirty players brought in from different walks of life. The team is made up of administrators, social workers, teachers, religious and social leaders, entrepreneurs, youths and so on; prominent among them are former Chief Secretary Alemtemshi Jamir - the captain of the team, beauty queen Imlibenla Wati, entrepreneurs Tsukti Longkumer, Limalenden, musicians like Wati Imchen, etc. Besides, there are also some veteran footballers who will play from the local side. The Assam Rifles team will be captained by its commandant Col KS Kataria. Taking opportunity of the 44th AR initiative, the Mokokchung Young Hearts United (MYHU - pronounced Mi-Who) reached out to different people who have contributed to towards the development of Mokokchung society. The MYHU members also asked the different organization and NGOs like Ao Senden, Watsu Mungdang, AKM, MTLT etc to be a part of the team, to which they agreed wholeheartedly. The exhibition match will be played for ninety minutes and the match will be officiated by professional referees. An added attraction will be renowned musician, Nise Meruno as ‘Celebrity Guest’ and a special appearance by upcoming comedian Hopong Naga. Meanwhile, the MYHU invites all to come and witness the match on April 15 at 2:00 pm.
