Mon District AIDS Prevention and Control Committee conduct meeting

Mon, June 22 (MExN): The Mon District AIDS Prevention and Control Committee (DAPCC) meeting was held on June 20 under the chairmanship of W. Honje K, Deputy Commissioner, at Conference Hall, DC office, Mon.  

Longyim Tzudir, District Programme Officer, DAPCU Mon highlighted the key activities carried for prevention of HIV and AIDS in the district. He shared the plan to conduct awareness programme on HIV and AIDS with the church leaders through Legislators’ Forum on AIDS (LFA) support.  

Tzudir briefed about the objective of establishing the Social Protect Help desk at all Facility Centres  (under NSACS) in Mon, and expressed optimism that People living with HIV (PLHIV), Children Affected By AIDS (CABA), and Most at Risk Population (MARP) will enable to access benefit schemes provided by the State Government  and Central Government.  

Further, the launching of formation of Mon Voluntary Blood Donors Association (MVBDA) during the observation of World Blood Donor Day 2016 was highlighted to the members and appreciated the office bearers led by Tongmeth Nekong as President and C. Nahnyei as Secretary to shoulder the responsibility for a noble cause.  

Sashi, General Secretary of Mon Users’ Network (MUN) shared the proposal for observing the International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking on June 26 at Mon. The members decided to jointly observe the event at the district level, for which a programme coordination committee headed by S. Lanu Aier, Additional SP Mon was set up for necessary arrangements.  

While discussing on the benefits of OST services, Sentilong Ozukum, EAC, Monyakshu briefly shared on the functioning of OST centres at Monyakshu under Tobu area, where the Deputy Commissioner had opined his concern and the need for more such centres in the district.  

The DAPCC Meeting for 1st quarter was attended by members representing Government departments, civil societies, student body, medical and defence personnel, churches and partner NGOs.
