Mon, April 23 (MExN): The monthly meeting of the Mon District Planning and Development Board (DPDB) for April 2026, held at DC’s Conference Hall, Mon on April 23, approved the proposal for a 10-feet extension of Foothill Road and forwarded it to higher authorities.
The meeting, presided over by Deputy Commissioner and DPDB Vice Chairman Wennyei Konyak (NCS) also took up several development proposals covering road infrastructure, education and public distribution, stated a DIPR report.
DPDB Chairman and MLA Y Mankhao Konyak proposed the inclusion of 11 new roads under the Urban Road scheme, including construction of District Jail circular road under Zaklum Ward; District Jail road to Tenak Nalla; GPS Santham to new Judicial Complex; GHSS ‘C’ junction to ADC circular road; old Edith Douglas Junction to Tanlao Ward Nalla; Mission Centre gate to Longwa road (Tammong Village); Mon Sonari road to GPS Jahjon Ward; ADC circular road to GPS Tompang Ward; ADC approach road via Tanlong Yanlam residence; Approach road to Gorkha Church and old MS quarter; and from NH 702 to DBS Higher Secondary School.
The board also approved and forwarded a proposal by Minister of Environment, Forest and Climate Change C.L. John for construction of a Public Distribution Centre store at Chen Town, citing the need to strengthen storage infrastructure for efficient handling of essential commodities.
An application for registration of Anghlam Sports and Cultural Club under the Nagaland Societies Registration Act, 1860 was also approved and forwarded.
The proposal for creation of a Government Primary School (GPS) at Longwa Lailo Village, put forward by Advisor Treasuries and Accounts, Art and Culture, K. Konngam Konyak, was discussed.
Separately, on an application for re-approval of an elementary school at Chingai Ward, the District Education Officer (DEO) Mon was directed to verify and brief members at the next DPDB meeting.
The DC called upon Agriculture, Horticulture, and Veterinary departments to prepare PowerPoint presentations on their departmental activities for the next meeting.
ADC Mon Pakon Phom reminded members of a tabletop exercise scheduled for April 29, 2026, and urged active participation.
New members Rose Ngullie (DEO Mon) and ADC Tizit C. Phuniang introduced themselves at the outset of the meeting.
