Mon DPDB proposes village adoption committees across 9 constituencies

Mon, January 23 (MExN): The monthly meeting of the Mon District Planning and Development Board (DPDB) was held on January 23 at the Deputy Commissioner’s Conference Hall, Mon, with Deputy Commissioner Wennyei Konyak, NCS, presiding.

Addressing the meeting, the Deputy Commissioner elaborated on the agenda relating to the proposed Village Adoption Committee. He informed that a committee would be constituted in all nine Assembly constituencies of the district, comprising the MLA of the concerned constituency, officers from the district administration, and representatives of various departments.

The committee, he said, would identify and select villages for adoption. Urging the members to actively participate, the Deputy Commissioner called upon departments to uplift and bring about visible changes in the villages adopted by contributing resources available with their respective departments. 

He further informed that a single Core Committee would be formed to oversee the programme and that the best-performing committee would be selected at the end of the year.

The meeting also discussed the proposal for change of school name and relocation of Little Flower School, Tizit, which was subsequently forwarded to the higher authority for approval.

During the meeting, the Deputy Commissioner read out the Republic Day work distribution assigned to each department and reminded members about the forthcoming Inter-Departmental Tournament scheduled to be held soon.

He also informed the board about financial assistance of Rs one lakh extended to A Ponglih Konyak by MLA and DPDB Chairman Y Mankhao Konyak, as recommended by the Mon Bar Association (MBDA).

District Chaplain Rev Yeangphong Konyak encouraged the members to discharge their assigned duties and responsibilities with commitment. He also invoked God’s presence and guidance for the members throughout the year.
