Mon, February 21 (MExN): The District Task Force Immunization (DTFI) meeting on IPPI was held at the DC Conference Hall, Mon under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner Thavaseelan on February 21.
Terming the IPPI as a very vital program Dr Sashinle Tep DPO (RCH & UIP) said that although India has been declared polio free, there is always a probability of the polio virus being transmitted from neighboring countries where polio still prevails. Therefore, precautions still have to be adopted to prevent the reoccurrence of the crippling disease, she added.
Discussing on the strategies planned, DPO informed that the IPPI would be conducted on March 10, targeting 24326 children in the age group of 0-5 years. She reported that the campaign has been planned to set up 298 booths covering 131 villages under Mon District, which will be followed by door to door visits. A total of 1192 manpower has been detailed for IPPI.
Important issues like manpower requirements, vehicle requirements, necessary arrangements for immunization at High risk areas and arrangements to be made at transit points in the district were touched upon.
