World Population Day observed at CMO conference hall, Mon on July 11.

Mon, July 11 (MExN): World Population Day was observed at CMO conference hall, Mon under the theme ‘healthy timing & spacing of pregnancies for well-being of mother and child.’ The district will also organise population fortnight from July 11 to 24 at the block and village level under the slogan ‘the new identity of Vikshit Bharat, family planning the pride of every couple'.
The programme was chaired by Pongchai, Block Programme Manager, Mon block. The programme started with a word of prayer by Yeihlem Konyak, ASHA coordinator, Phomchibg block.
At the event, Dr Thomas Keppen, Dy CMO shared the background and importance of establishingthe world population day in the country. He said it was to address population related events or concerns like reproductive health, family planning, gender equality, sustainable development. Basically, the significance of the event is to foster discussions and raise awareness on the impact of population dynamics, he added. He requested all the staffs to refer into the objective of the programme and to work accordingly in the context based on the districtlooking at the scenario of their respective block/village.
Later, Bonnie Konyak, DPM took the time to discuss on the plan of action to organize various activities in all the blocks of the district during the fortnight.
