Mon, May 26 (MExN): The Department of Power, Electrical Sub-Division Mon, has informed consumers that temporary technical issues in the TUPS computer billing system have resulted in some electricity bills showing accumulated readings of previous months in a single billing cycle.
Clarifying the issue, the department stated that the discrepancy was caused by technical problems in the TUPS billing and computer system during data processing and bill generation, and not due to Smart Meter installation or Smart Meter technology.
The department appealed to consumers not to panic or spread rumours regarding Smart Metering, while assuring that the issue is being addressed on priority.
According to the department, necessary corrections and adjustments are currently being worked out, and consumers will receive normal and regular billing in the upcoming billing cycle.
It further assured that the issue is temporary and under rectification, adding that future bills would reflect normal monthly consumption.
Consumers with genuine billing concerns have been advised to approach the office of the Electrical Sub-Division, Mon, for clarification and assistance.
As per the State DIPR, Expressing regret over the inconvenience caused, the department sought the cooperation and understanding of all consumers during the transition period.
