Mon progressive farmers go on exposure tour to Meghalaya

Mon, March 25 (MExN): The Agricultural Technology Management Agency (ATMA) Mon undertook interstate farmers’ exposure tour and training from March 19 to 24 at Barapani and East Khasi Hills, Meghalaya.  

The programme was organised to enhance the farmers’ skills, give them insights on recent trends in hill agriculture, and also in view of the interest shown and training proposed thereof by progressive farmers from Mon district, stated a press release from Subenthung Odyuo, Deputy Project Director, ATMA Mon.  

It informed that the farmers had hands-on demos facilitated by scientists and technical experts on recent trends in agriculture and allied sectors at ICAR Horticultural division, Agronomy division, Fishery division, Meat Processing Facilities division.  

The farmers also participated in one-day training during technology and machinery demonstration mela at Agriculture Engineering Division.  

Altogether, 20 progressive farmers – 10 women and 10 men – benefitted from the programme, it added.
