Dimapur, May 21 (MExN): The Electrical Sub-Division, Mon has informed citizens and electricity consumers in Mon Town that installation of smart electricity meters is being carried out under the Government of India’s power sector digitalisation programme, the Revamped Distribution Sector Scheme (RDSS).
According to SDO Electrical Sub-Division Mon, Er Thanyalo Kath, the smart metering initiative aims to improve “transparency, billing accuracy, energy management, and overall efficiency of electricity services for consumers.”
The department stated that the installation process is being conducted only through authorised agencies and officials, and appealed to consumers to extend cooperation to the installation teams during the ongoing work.
The public was also advised not to “believe, spread or circulate any rumours, misleading information or false news regarding smart meters and the installation process.” It stated that spreading unverified information could create “unnecessary confusion and fear among the public.”
