Mon, July 21 (MExN): The Konyak Students’ Union (KSU) organised the first Thanglong Yanlem Award for Academic Excellence on July 21 at the KSU office complex.
According to a press release, the event which held under the sponsorship of Thanglong Yanlem and his family was chaired by K Nonlih, Asst Women Co-Ordinator, KSU, while invocation was pronounced by Rev Yeangphong, Advisor to KSU. President of KSU T Noklem Konyak delivered the welcome speech.
On behalf of the family, T Ado Yanlem, Addl SP Mon, stated that the award would be conferred annually starting this year, to students who top the HSLC and HSSLC examinations and would be applicable only to the bonafide Konyak citizens. Yanlem also stated that the initiative was taken in honour of his father’s dream to contribute towards the Konyak community, the release stated.
This was followed by self introductory speech from both the toppers of HSLC and HSSLC, Yingmei M Konyak (HSLC Top-20) and Ngamjong JN Yanlem (Top-1 Science Stream). President KSU handed over the meritorious certificate and cash award of Rs 15000 each was handed over by Ado Yanlem to both the toppers, it said.
Words of encouragement were delivered by Manlip, Advisor, Konyak Union; Ponglem, President KNSK and Er Chinglang, President Konyak Gazetted Officers Union, who congratulated both the toppers for bringing laurels to the Konyak community. They also acknowledged the sponsor family for the commendable initiative. A special prayer was pronounced by Wangchah, Youth Secretary KBBB and the programme ended with mass benediction, the release stated.
