Mon unit of SRF dissolved

Mon, July 9 (MExN): The Mon district unit of Sovereign Republic of Freeland (SRF) has dissolved its office effective July 7, 2016.

A letter of dissolution was submitted by the unit’s main activist, Hejei Konyak, who presented in person along with the organization’s executive members during an emergency meeting held at the Konyak Union's office in Mon headquarter, according to M Honang Jessuhu, General Secretary, Konyak Union (KU). The meeting was attended by all Konyak frontal organisations, including the KU, KSU and KNSK.

The release said that Hejei also surrendered documents containing list of SRF memberships and ID cards, numbering around 100 recruits. It may be recalled that the activists had surrendered “unconditionally” before the Konyak Union on July 5.

Speaking at the meeting, the President of Konyak Union, S Manlip Konyak welcomed the SRF unit’s resolution to dissolve their operatives in the district and called upon SRF activists across Eastern Nagaland to follow their lead.   Meanwhile, the sitting Vice-President of Konyak Union, AM Kaiba Konyak voluntarily tendered his resignation following a revelation that he is a `Projector Director' of the SRF according to the documents produced by the surrendered activists, it was stated.

“While he claimed he was inadvertently enlisted by his wife to the organisation, he cited moral obligation to resign from the post,” the release said, adding the KU has accepted his resignation and relieved him of his duties.

ENCSU calls SRF ‘unrecognised organisation’

Dimapur, July 9 (MExN): The Eastern Nagaland College Students ' Union (ENCSU) has expressed support to the ‘Shopilak Declaration’ of the Eastern Naga Students' Federation (ENSF), which was adopted during the 15th Federal Assembly of ENSF held at Tuensang HQ recently. One of the resolutions under ‘Shopilak Declaration’ was a ban on establishing Sovereign Republic of Freeland offices in Eastern Nagaland.

“The so called Sovereign Republic of Freeland (SRF) is an unrecognised organisation which is trying to grab the attention of the people with false promises which can't fulfill even one,” stated a press statement issued by ENCSU Chairman, Longre Chang and Joint Secretary, Nokchem Angth. “It is sad that many illiterate fellows are becoming victim of such illegal elements carried out by some vested people for their selfish gain, which the Union is totally against and ask the individual involved to denounce at the earliest for one and all good.”

Alleging that the SRF is trying to tarnish the future generations of Eastern Nagaland, ENCSU warned any individual or organization involving in such anti-social elements “because no one has any rights to tarnish young generation.” It further claimed that some bureaucrats are also part of the “unrecognized organization” and warned them to stay away before things get unhealthy.
