Monaco Princess Charlene adds glam to UK ball

In their first appearance in Britain since their nuptials were beamed around the world, Prince Albert and his bride Charlene were guests of honour at a gala in Yorkshire. Arriving arm-in-arm and looking very happy together, the royal newlyweds brought a touch of Riviera glamour to the charity ball in Leeds.
The new princess, a former Olympic The new princess, a former Olympic swimmer, sparkled in a metallic brocade effect sheath at the soiree in Harewood House. Finishing off the glittering look were yellow diamond drop earrings and a gold clutch.
Her husband, who slimmed down for the ceremony in July, cut an impressive figure in a tuxedo.
The event marked the golden jubilee of the regional Variety Club children's charity.  Since her engagement last year, Charlene has become a high-profile supporter of children's charities in Europe and her native South Africa.
