Mongmong festival greetings

Kohima, September 2 (MExN): The Governor of Nagaland La Ganesan has extended greetings to all Sangtam brothers and sisters on the occasion of Mongmong festival. 

Mongmong festival is celebrated as a thanksgiving festival for the bountiful harvest. It is also the time for seeking blessings and prosperity from the almighty. Mongmong festival is marked by paying visits to our near and dear ones, including close friends and sharing of feasts for good health and unity among the community. “On this auspicious occasion, I wish you all good health, peace and prosperity. God Bless Nagaland!” he conveyed. 

The Deputy Chief Minister Y Patton has greeted the Sangtams on the occasion of Mongmong. Patton said that the festival is a reminder of our rich cultural heritage, and we need to preserve it. Mongmong is a festival which is celebrated by both young and old in merry making and thanksgiving. On behalf of the state BJP legislators, the Dy CM conveyed festive greetings and hope that it is celebrated with grandeur. 

The NSCN/GPRN (Akato Chophi) has conveyed festival greetings on the occasion of Mongmong festival of the Sangtam Nagas whose primary reason is to worship the deity of the house and three cooking stones in the fire place. “The NSCN invokes God's blessings for prosperity and good tidings to continue to be upon our Sangtam brothers and sisters,” it stated.
