
Kohima, September 2 (MExN): On the occasion of Mongmong Festival, one of the premier festivals of the Sangtam Naga, the Governor of Nagaland, RN Ravi has extended greetings.
Ravi stated that this festival is to have a good harvest after the villagers have toiled throughout the whole year. Mongmong is also celebrated as a festival of togetherness and forgiveness. Cleaning the paths leading to the fields, inter-village roads, village well etc. are carried out during the festival. The villagers also share their produce. Love, unity, forgiveness and care are the wonderful essence of this festival.
“On this auspicious occasion, I pray that God's blessings be upon each one of you. May you all have a bountiful harvest and good health,” he conveyed.
Taking to twitter to greet “the Sangtam community of Nagaland,” CM Neiphiu Rio prayed that, “May the Almighty bless you with a bountiful harvest, good health, happiness and peace. I hope the festival fosters amongst you a spirit of togetherness and unity.”
The Dy CM and BLP leader, Y Patton is his greetings to the Sangtam community said that Mongmong festival marks a prosperous harvest after months of hard labour. Patton said that the Sangtams are a group of hardworking and courageous people, while their folk songs and dances too were melodious and vibrant. The Dy CM on behalf of the state BJP legislators wished them a very happy Mongmong as they celebrate in the true sense of “togetherness forever.”
