MOKOKCHUNG, DECEMBER 19 (MExN): The opening match of the second day Mongsen Ait Marok Football Trophy at Longjang village, Mokokchung witnessed a spectacular performance by Sentinungsang of Gilgal FC scoring 2 goals in the first half and another in the second half; his teammates Ayenmongba and Winamthiu adding a goal each against the crowd favorite Salsksalaker, who managed to score only a single goal; ending the match with 5 goals to 1, on Tuesday.
Omega and Lumedang in the 7th match of the tournament shared 2 goals each ending on a draw.
Chargers FC continued its winning streak by crushing its opponent Yimsen Youth club and scoring 7 goals (plus an own goal by the opposing team), winding up the match with 8 goals to nil.
Rebels FC and Khanimu Citizens Club held a slow-paced 9th tournament match with a score of 1-0, in favour of the former.
Gilgal FC opened their tournament match with a staggering 10 goals to 1 against Lametong.
Aningchen in the 11th match of the tournament could not pace their opponent Lomuden resulting in their defeat with 4 goals to nil.
The last leg matches played between Chargers FC and Yimsen Youth Club-A ended with a single goal by Yangersosang of Chargers FC.
The first quarter-final match of the tournament witnessed a fierce competition between Salaksalaker and Rebels FC ending the 60 minutes match with 2 goals each; and neither team breaking the deadlock in the additional minutes, concluding in a shootout which resulted in a 5-3 victory for Salaksalaker.
Gilgal downed the host team Mongsen Ait Club in the second quarter-final match with a sole goal.
The third and final day of the tournament will host Lumeden against Yimsen Youth Club-B in the 3rd quarter final; with Chargers FC and Omega looking to continue their streak in the tournament – in the fourth quarter. The finalist will be competing for the coveted Mongsen Ait Marok (cup) and a cash prize of 1 lakh rupees.
