MOKOKCHUNG, OCTOBER 14 (MExN): Mongsenbai Youngsters on Saturday routed Grand Elite’s 6-0 enroute the semi-finals of the ongoing MDFA Trophy 2017 at Imkongmeren Sports Complex, Mokokchung.
In a one sided match, Sentilemzung scored the first goal barely two minutes into the game while the second and the third goal came in the 13th and 19th minute by Kilangnukshi and Punuru Nienu.
Three minutes into the second half, Punuru struck a second time to take a 4-0 lead. The Grand Elite’s defense line proved too weak for the Youngsters as they scored the fifth goal in the 55th minute. Grand Elite’s striker Nungsangmeren found a break for a face-saving goal but he let slip the opportunity, his strike going pass the net.
Punuru finished in style, scoring the 6th and his 3rd in the 69th minute while making him a strong contender for the highest scorer of the tournament.
