DIMAPUR, MAY 19 (MExN): District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) Mokokchung held a meeting on monsoon preparedness at the conference hall of Deputy Commissioner, Mokokchung today 19th May 2023. At the meeting, DC & Chairman DDMA, Mokokchung, Sashank Pratap Singh, apprised the departments to be prepared for any eventualities in case of monsoon related disaster.
The DC reminded those departments who have not submitted the equipment list to submit at the earliest. He also asked the head of offices to do analysis in what capacity the department can help to avert disaster. The DC suggested that departments can carry out social work by clearing the clogged drainage etc, saying that such small contributions would help avert disaster during the monsoon season.
In the meeting, PWD (R&B), National Highway and Urban Development departments was instructed to give special attention in maintaining the road and also asked to inform the contractors to keep the road motorable in spite of the ongoing earth cutting works, and also to look for alternate road in case of any eventualities. Food and Civil Supplies department was instructed to keep stock for at least three months. The DC also instructed the Home Guards & Civil Defense department to be on high alert and informed the concerned official that except for medical emergencies, no leave should be granted to the personnel during the monsoon period.
Medical department was entrusted to ensure the availability of emergency/basic medicines and all other line departments were asked to stay alert in case of any eventualities. Deputy Commissioner also asked all the Head of Offices in the district to be in station during the monsoon.
