Monthly billing of electric power not done

Due to COVID-19, the Power department has recently said through the newspapers that monthly billing activity of meter reading and serving of bills could not be done. But for the past 12 months or so, we got our bills like only once.

As such we have to go to the power office every two months to get our bills and then pay it. On paying bills, it is seen that the units consumed are entered arbitrarily as 100 units, 60 units and so on. For example, even after paying bills at regular intervals, our house has a backlog of 1670 units! It is very clear that regular meter reading and entry is not done.

If units consumed per month is less , the rate is less, but if the units are more, the rate to be paid by the consumer is more. Since our backlog is in the thousands, the rate is in the highest category now.

Home reading of meter by department employees and delivery of bills were done regularly few years back. This has stopped for the past 1 or 2 years. While standing in queues to get our bills, other consumers also complain of the same problem.

It is requested that the power department will regularly send its staff for meter reading and delivery of bills. Occasional threatening of disconnections while service from its side remaining unsatisfactory is not appreciated.
