Mon, May 28 (MExN): Village Council Chairmen of Mopong Hongkong (Mopong Circle) in Mon district have criticized the statement of Moka NPF titled ‘NPF 48 Moka A/C issues clarification’ which appeared on May 24 issue.
The Moka NPF had responded to a statement of A. Yangkon Konyak, former vice chairman of Adhoc Town Committee Mopong (ATCM), which demanded reinstatement of the EAC Mopong under ADC Tobu. The Mopong EAC HQ has been brought under SDO (C) Angjangyang from Tobu ADC “without the consultation and consent” of Mopong Hongkong public, according to the statement of the former ATCM vice chairman.
A rejoinder issued by seven Village Council Chairmen (VCCs) on behalf of all the VCCs of Mopong Hongkong admitted that the designation of Yangkon should be former vice chairman of ATCM and not as claimed. However, the VCCs asserted, Yangkon’s statement is the voice of the general public and attested the resolution of May 11, 2016 as true and genuine. The resolution says that “all eleven villages including Mopong EAC HQ which fall under the Mopong EAC HQ Centre shall remain under the administration centre of ADC Tobu Sub-Division.”
The VCCs further told Moka NPF that Yangkon might be “just a mere public” as it said, but “we are highly acknowledging his voluntary services rendered for the cause of Mopong Hongkong.”
“The VCCs led by A. Yangkon seeking for reinstating Mopong EAC Hq under ADC Tobu is the general will of the public irrespective of any political parties in grassroots level,” the rejoinder stated.
The VCCs also questioned the Moka NPF President and General Secretary what other formalities had been observed other than the official formalities/report that was submitted in the final meeting of July 27, 2015, which was convened by EAC Mopong HQ and attended by all the Village Council Chairmen, Mopong Hongkong Students' Union, all presidents of students' unions and KNSK. “The Moka NPF has no right to interfere in any manner in this regard,” it added.
Stating that the public of Mopong circle deserve to be under ADC Tobu, the VCCs expressed confidence that “the Government of the people will surely be the Government for the people.” Therefore, the signatories have asked all responsible citizens and concerned administrative authorities not to be swayed or misguided by such write ups of individuals with vested interest.
The rejoinder was appended by Engo Konyak, VCC Yonghong; L Tangang, VCC Kenchenshu; Nyaoba, VCC Yei; PL Wanmei, VCC Yaphang; C Pongchai, VCC Changnyu; Ethang, VCC Yakshu; Moangkhak, VCC Ukha.
