Dimapur, August 7 (MExN): The Mopong Hongkong Public Forum (MHPF) has resolved to abstain from participating in the celebration of the 75 years of Independence on August 15 to call attention for the “retention of Mopong EAC under ADC Tobu Administration.”
The Forum will restrict vehicular movement across Mopong jurisdiction and all the Government established offices within the jurisdiction of Mopong EAC Circles will remain close from 6am till 6pm, informed a press release received here on Sunday.
Public or students will also not be allowed to participate at the said event, it said.
According to the release, the decision for the same was taken as the Mopong EAC was shifted from ADC Tobu Administration to Angjangyang SDO(C) in 2014 without the knowledge of the people.
No consultation was made with the people of Mopong regarding the same, it said.
It further informed that the public of Mopong have repeatedly appealed to the State Government for the retention of Mopong EAC under ADC Tobu, however, there is no positive response so far.
On February 4, 2022, civil societies of Tobu Mopong and Angjangyang were invited ‘for a discussion at the Commissioner’s office, wherein, details of the same and people’s will’ were shared to the committee, it noted.
However, no positive response has been received even after repeated appeals made to the State Government, it added.
Accordingly, the Forum has no other option but to take this step, it stated.
The MHPF further cautioned individual and all concerned to strictly adhere to the decision taken by the Forum in order to avoid any untoward incidents.
