MoRD officials visit Wokha

Kohima, February 11 (MExN): Officials from Ministry of Rural Development (MoRD), Government of India, New Delhi visited Wokha district for physical verification of the various centrally sponsored schemes (CSS) from February 5 to 6 last.

The area monitoring officers of MoRD included Deputy Secretary Anil Subramaniam and Under Secretary M. Rama Krishna. They visited various villages and physically inspected various CCS projects being implemented under MGNREGA, IAY, NRLM and National Social Assistant Programme (NSAP).

The two officials after visiting the sites expressed satisfaction in implementation of various schemes at the grassroots level/villages, especially under MGNREGA, stated a press release issued by Mathew Yhome, APC, DRDA Wokha.

Project Director, DRDA Wokha, Liboni Humtsoe along with her staff received the visiting team and apprised them about the schemes being implemented under Wokha district.
The ministry officials were accompanied by Additional Director of Social Welfare Department, Nagaland, Merangtsuba Aier.
According to Merangtsuba, National Social Assistant Programme (NSAP) covers pension for senior citizen, disabled person, and widows. The present coverage under NSAP is only about 39% of the total eligible in the State.

The two officials from MoRD confirmed that from 2014-15 onwards, the scheme will be converted to CSS from the present Additional Central Assistance (ACA) and more coverage would be provided to the state to reach out to the uncovered eligible senior citizens through NSAP schemes.
