Dimapur, October 12 (MExN): More organizations today condemned the killing of a 28-year-old woman at Tenyiphe-1 on the night of October 8. The victim, a mother of two, was found killed at her residence on October 9.
Western Chakhesang Mothers’ Association (WCMA) and Western Chakhesang Hoho (WCH) in a representation to the Deputy Commissioner urged the district administration and investigation agency to seriously and expeditiously take up the matter and book the culprits(s) as per the law of the land.
In a joint press statement, Tenyimi Students' Union Dimapur (TSUD) and Tenyimi Women Union Dimapur (TWUD) stated such dastardly act deserves no place in our civilized society. Maintaining that the killing deserves condemnation by all, the two unions appealed to the law enforcing agencies to arrest the culprit(s) at the earliest “failing which no women or children will feel safe even in the confines of the their own homes.” The press statement issued by Azo Wetsah, general secretary, TSUD, Caroline Pao, general secretary, TWUD, and Aba Khing, president, TWUD further assured fullest cooperation to the law enforcing agencies to ensure justice is delivered.
The Zhavame Students’ Union through its president, Medovi Rhi and general secretary, Derhü Pohena also appealed to the responsible authority to arrest the culprit(s) and bring them to justice at the earliest.
