More join ‘Cleanliness is Service’ campaign in Nagaland

Dimapur, September 21 (MExN): More governmental agencies and organisations across the state of Nagaland have joined the ongoing ‘Swachhata Hi Seva’ (Cleanliness is Service) campaign being conducted throughout the country. Launched by Prime Minister, Narendra Modi on September 15, the campaign aimed at boosting nationwide public participation in the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan, and fulfilling Mahatma Gandhi’s dream of a high standard of cleanliness across the country.  

CHC Jalukie: The Swachhata Hi Seva cleanliness drive was also carried out at CHC Jalukie led by the Senior Medical Officer along with CHC staffs on September 19.     

The drive was observed coordination with the administration led by ADC Jalukie and representatives from different organizations such as pastors’ union, ward chairman union, auto union, taxi union, traders’ union, Jalukie town women welfare, PWD, Jalukie town youth, GB’s union, kingdom stewards and HCMC under Jalukie town.  

A press release by District Media Officer, CMO Office, Peren informed that increased community participation was underway in Jalukie for the past few months to uplift the Hospital in various ways.  

Kuhuboto: In Kuhuboto Sub Division Dimapur, it was initiated on September 18 at a place where a solid-liquid waste management system was constructed and inaugurated.  

Er.R. Imtisowa, SDO, PHED in a press release said that to mark the occasion, dustbins were distributed by SDO (Civil) Kuhuboto, Alongdhimen, who was accompanied by the SDO PHED, Er Kuhoi JE, and other staff.  

Honito WATSAN Chairperson and WATSAN committee members under Kuhuboto were among those who attended the function. Dustbins were distributed to all the Government offices, Schools, Churches, public beneficiaries by SDO Civil Kuhuboto at his office compound.  

The programme was organized by District Water and Sanitation Mission (DWSM), PHED, Rural division, Dimapur and sponsored by Water and Sanitation Support Organization (WSSO), Nagaland.  

Sainik School Punglwa: The Sainik School Punglwa joined hands with the rest of the nation in the cleanliness campaign by carrying out cleanliness drive in the school premises and the surrounding areas on September 15 and will continue till October 2.  

A press release stated that the school’s Eco Club initiated and led the drive. Cadets undertook the cleaning activity assiduously, picked up litters, trashes and cleaned up the vicinity of the school.  

As part of the campaign, a special assembly was also conducted where Cadet Saket Kumar delivered a speech on the campaign.  

A Postcard Making Competition on the theme ‘Swachhta Hi Seva’ was also conducted.   Lt Col MK Meitei, the Officiating Principal while addressing the cadets and staff spoke on the importance of the campaign and stated that “maintenance of cleanliness should be a regular affair in one’s life and one should develop a sense of sanitisation always.” Praveen Verma (PGT Chemistry) gave health advisory talk to cadets, the release added.
