Dimapur, February 23 (MExN): Former Independent candidate of 5 Ghaspani-II A/C, S. Alfred along with his supporters has joined the Nationalist Democratic Progressive Party (NDPP) camp “to work and elect Zhaleo Rio as the constituency representative from the forthcoming election,” informed a press release from Thejangukho Yalietsu, Press Secretary, NDPP 5 Ghaspani-II A/C.
Alfred disclosed the same at an induction ceremony of new members at Zhaleo’s residence on February 19.
Speaking to a host of senior NDPP leaders, Alfred noted he came to “understand Zhaleo as a visionary leader, dedicated for his people when they had marathon interactions,” according to the press release. “It was because of his loyalty and people friendly attitude, not just his leadership capabilities alone, that inspired me to come out in support of his candidature,” the former candidate added.
He expressed confidence to see “our constituency develop in all spheres” once NDPP forms the government with a thumping majority under the leadership of Neiphiu Rio in the ensuing general election.
Meanwhile, Zhaleo acknowledged the decision of Alfred and his supporters numbering more than 200 to join NDPP to strengthen the party and more so to help him win from the constituency. He also lauded the declaration of some other party officials and members, namely INC and NPF, for choosing to join hands and support him.
The NDPP, he assured, will usher in change very soon at an unprecedented level for all round development through stability and unity of the party. Zhaleo concluded saying that a large constituency like Ghaspani-II has hundreds of problems in relation to social as well as political affairs but “we will be through all these together to come out with flying colours.”
