
Longleng, November 1 (MExN): The National Unity Day was observed at Longleng in commemoration with the birthday of Sardar Vallabhai Patel on October 31 by organizing a mini marathon run for unity. The race started from the local football ground via Lampong junction Agri road to NST junction and culminated at the local ground.
Imtiakum, SDPO Longleng briefed on the significance of observing the birth day of the “Iron Man of India” as a National Unity Day in India.
The winners of the race on the bases of merit in the male category were Anglong of Good Shepherd School, Bushong of PPC Ward and Pangong of Leinak ward and in the female category Ongchu of St. Joseph School, Lichang of St. Joseph School and Nyiemphu of St. Joseph School were the winners.
Meanwhile, the Government Polytechnic Seithekema C, Dimapur celebrated Rashtriya Ekta Diwas with the participation of faculty, staff and students in the Polytechnic premises on October 31.
The activities of the celebration included unity run by the students, re-affirmation of the inherent strength and resilience of our nation to withstand the actual and potential threats to the unity, integrity and security of our country by pronouncing the Rashtriya Ekta Diwas Pledge.
A short speech on National Unity was delivered by Er. Zhapulhoulie Rupreo, Principal, Government Polytechnic Seithekema C, Dimapur. In his speech, the Principal urged the gathering to have the spirit of unity and co-operation to usher in development and progress to our nation while Pronouncing of the Pledge was led by Er. Loli Shikhu, Lecturer in Civil Engineering, GPSD.
