DIMAPUR, MAY 15 (MExN): The Chairman, Union of 31 villages under Jalukie Sub-Division said that the decision of the state cabinet to establish district headquarter at New Peren is against the consensus choice, and has upset the people of the entire district.
In release, the Union’s Chairman, Maisaing Teisie said that while people were happy and grateful to the present DAN government for various developmental works gifted to the district, on the other hand they are hurt by the latest decision of the state government on the site of district headquarter.
The Chairman Union also regretted at the slow pace of development, and especially in delaying the selection of the headquarter site. However, when people were expecting so much from the government and the final decision were reposed on them, the latter has fool the people by digging out the buried chapter and thus twisting the whole issue.
The Union reiterated that the earlier preference of the Peren District Site Selection Committee (PDSSC) is not relevant at the present juncture as it was declared null and void on March 25 last at the general meeting of the leaders of all the villages.
However, knowing fully of the consequences, the government has roll back to the past that was dropped for good.
“The ‘site’ issue should be in the interest of the people for they know what is best for them”, the release added.
The release also stated that the people of the entire district has endorsed the decision of Zeliangrong Baudi as such “It is right time for the state government to act according to the democratic wish of the people”, is said.
Further it said that the choice of few men in power will not serve the purpose, and appealed the state government to go by the proposal of Baudi to place district headquarter at Jalukie.
